Welcome!

Chemistry is a wonderful subject! The knowledge gained in this course can help you understand and therefore appreciate the world around you. It is my goal to help you gain such knowledge so you can use it wisely.

Remember, "Imagination is more imortant than knowledge" -Einstein

and

"Knowledge is not power! It's what you do with knowledge- now that's Power! " -Shin

NOTE: This course was cancelled for the Spring 2010 semester. I am currently teaching the Chemistry 60 course at this time. Please check for updates to see if this webpage is reactivated- when I teach Chemistry 51 again- possibly Fall 2010.

I apologize for cancelling class Thursday (11/19/09), but I was called to a LAPD HazMat incident see (Explosives brought to local fire station, prompts closure of Reseda Boulevard) and didn't know how long I would be needed at the time. Furthermore, the CSUN e-mail system has been changed and I tried to send out a message to everyone that evening, but couldn't and still can't send a mass emailing! Please inform your classmates of this schedule change. I can receive e-mail, but just can't respond- perhaps Monday things will be fixed. I have updated the syllabus to clarify the cahnges to the course schedule- please download a cop and use it for the remaining of the semester. For now, also send me a response that you have seen this message (via e-mail) please. Have a great weekend and see you next Tuesday! -Paul
